Julie | Marfa Art Supply

Julie is the owner of Marfa Art Supply (@marfaartsupply). Come to think of it, she is the latest Julie as the owner of MAS as there were other Julies before her who have previously owned this store. However, I think THIS Julie is the best Julie to have ever owned Marfa Art Supply.

We came upon her store as she was in the middle of receiving new inventory. Her cute, but quaint, store was bursting at the seams with new items, and she was doing her best to make room for it all. Despite being overwhelmed with product, she took the time to to help my wife, Mindy, find some items she was needing for her journaling. Julie is a native of Montreal, Canada. But her travels all over the world, plus a stint in Thailand, eventually led her to Marfa, where she has been for the past five years. Despite her being a relatively new resident in town, she was brimming with Marfa knowledge as well as giving us an informal invite out to the local baseball game on the 4th of July.

While we mused on the fried and gravied culinary wonder that is poutine (the Montreal native dish), you could tell that she much more than a just a Canadian living in Texas. She was an eclectic beauty that was the sum of her life experience. Wild, free, and soulful. While art is her business, her life is the actual art, and she just happens to imitate it.
